How Many Dudes Wave Walkthrough (Rounds 1–105)
Every run in How Many Dudes? follows the same skeleton: escalating enemy waves, Act Bosses, and a run-defining endgame boss per Tier. Here's the full map, based on the official developer guide and the official site's game description — updated August 3, 2026.
The Enemy Escalation (Official)
The official site describes the challenge curve in one line: "Face escalating enemy waves—from toddlers to wolves to gorillas to gods." The developer guide names some of the mid-game fauna that will humble you: Seagulls (early swarms), King Cobras (poison), Feral Hogs and Zombie Bears (endgame swarms), Moose and Shotgun Turtles (one-shot threats from mid-run), and Silverback Gorillas (the "backhand" that ends careless teams).
Wave Phases & What to Do in Each
Waves 1–20: The Cheap Economy Phase
Enemies are weak — toddlers, wolves, seagulls. This is the setup phase: recruit your core, save cash, and feed the Business Dude. Use our Early Game build and don't waste money on Dude Juice (Dudes recover on their own after a few rounds — official tip).
Waves 20–60: The Synergy Phase
King Cobras and the first one-shot threats (Moose, Shotgun Turtles) appear mid-run. The official guide warns these "don't start showing up until midway through most runs, so you will have some time to fish for Relics and prepare." Bias toward Toughness, Max HP, or Temporary Health — the guide's guaranteed way to survive a big hit. This is also where your comp's synergies need to come online: see Viking-Necro-Spartan or the Tier List for direction.
Waves 60–100: The Endgame Ramp
Feral Hogs and Zombie Bears swarm. The official guide's endgame imagery: "your team will only have a few dozen Relics, and your Dudes will start getting slapped around." If you invested with the Business Dude, this is when the compounding pays off — buy every Relic you see.
Round 105: The G.O.A.T. (Tier 1)
The official guide calls it "a pretty tough boss that has put many a Dude into the dirt": lots of health, big burst damage, zips around smashing Dudes, and several hundred Ram minions. Your checklist: survive big hits (Toughness/Max HP/Temporary Health), bring Cheat Death options, and keep mobility so you're not slow-walking while it shocks everyone. Full game plan in our Wave 100+ build guide.
Tiers 2 & 3: New Constraints, New Bosses
The official guide: "When you reach Tier 2 and Tier 3, the new endgame bosses introduced in those Tiers will test other aspects of your team, and there's a good chance that your first attempt or two will end in defeat." The method it recommends:
- Watch what the boss does, how it moves, and what its abilities are.
- Adapt your next run to counter it specifically.
- Collect Stars efficiently — Gold/Silver Stars from higher Tiers retroactively backfill lower Tiers, so a failed Tier 2 run still progresses your Tier 1 collection.
Act Bosses & Trinkets
The official site explains: "Defeat Act Bosses to earn Trinkets — powerful items assigned to a Dude Type that enable game-breaking strategies." Should you give your Wizard Dudes ADHD, or your Samurai Dudes a Taser? Trinkets are the second layer of build identity after Relics, and they're Dude-Type-specific, so plan your Trinket targets when you plan your team.
Boss-Fight General Principles
- Defense first: the guide ranks Toughness/Max HP/Temporary Health above Evasion/Block for boss fights — "if you have 99% evasion but low Max HP, then 1% of the time, you'll still get one-shot."
- Cheat Death insurance: Circuit Breaker (Electrician), Bat Wings (Vampire), Time Dude's Rewind — the guide: "with a handful of Cheat Death abilities on your team, you'll find it becomes much easier to gamble on harder fights."
- Consumables are boss tools: Meteors stun and separate, Bottled Lightning can remove big enemies, Strange Spores spread HP around, Health Potions grant overheal shields, Burner Phones relocate and shield (all official guide).
- Mobility: a team that can't reposition gets kited by the G.O.A.T. — Cyborg Dude (36 Run Speed) and the Burner Phone consumable are your best tools.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many waves are in a How Many Dudes run?
Tier 1's endgame boss, the G.O.A.T., appears at round 105. Tiers 2 and 3 add their own endgame bosses on top of that structure. Between rounds you'll face Act Bosses that reward Trinkets.
When do the hard enemies show up?
Per the official guide, one-shot threats like Moose and Shotgun Turtles start appearing midway through most runs — so waves ~50+. Feral Hogs and Zombie Bears define the late-game swarm.
What's the difference between Tiers?
Three Tiers of Challenge with increasing constraints, new unique enemies, and new epic boss battles (official site). Stars earned in higher Tiers retroactively count toward lower-Tier collections.
